whats the best book on Hypnosis?

i would really like to learn about hypnosis (mainly Stage hypnosis) i dont meen just facts id like a book that actually trains you in it so i could learn to do the whole putting people in trances and what not:) is there one anyones read that they could recomend?
oh and i dont meen self hypnosis:)

Well mate, their are pretty much two schools of thought when it comes to Stage hypnotism. Once you figure out which one you want to practice, picking a book is easy!

The first school of thought is the New School, which about 90 percent of stage hypnotists practice these days. It is essentially a comedy show. You get some fun loving people up on stage, talk them into humping brooms, jumping out of their chairs, and otherwise deliver about 45 minutes of fun, lighthearted entertainment. This school is often criticized as being shallow or immature (which is true, in a sense, after you realize that no real hypnosis is necessary to make this a success). However it certainly has it’s advantages. You will have no trouble whatsoever booking shows, and you will be able to perform many more comedy venues.

The second school of thought is the Old School style. This style places more emphasis on ‘quality enterainment’ then the simple comedy that New Schoolers perform. Old School performers will cow a mysterious atmosphere (possibly drawing influence from the hidden parts of the Far East!), and perform mind blowing feats of mental control and prowess. These are the types of shows which are performed at theaters, which people will get dressed up to attend. These are the types of shows which, if done well, will get your name written up in the papers and have you perform before the Queen of England. You will have less shows if you choose to perform in this style, however each is better paying. Additionally, you will be in higher demand, since their are fewer hypnotists who still focus on this type of quality entertainment.

Which quote resonates with you more? Give this some thought, and then purchase one of the following two books:

1) The Ronning Guide to Modern Stage Hypnosis, by Geoff Ronning. An excelent book on starting your own comedy hypnosis buissiness.

2) The New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism, by Ormond McGill. A veritable tome that not only will teach you everything you ever need to know about hypnosis, but also some stuff you may not . A fabulous resource, although he does harbor some more experimental views on certain hypnotic phenomena (don’t let this put you off though, just follow his instructions and it will work!)

I own both books, and cannot recommend them enough. If you are still deciding which style to adopt, I’d recommend both. They compliment each other well.
